On Friday, January 31, the alarms started to sound on social media, particularly Bluesky. Federal workers in DC and regional officers were receiving severance offers or layoff notices in their email clients after 5pm. Young men claiming to work for Elon Musk’s DOGE project , were entering Federal office buildings in numbers and gaining access to server rooms. In the 4 hours or so it took me to ride an Amtrak train from New York to Boston, I saw the final end of the American empire commence.

It was a sudden and shocking turn of events. The executive was taking full control of the bureaucratic state and bypassing Congress. Offices that were funded to remain open per the 2025 budget were being closed.

Since that Friday, life in this nation has been hell. Each weekend, another Federal agency is shrunken or shut down. Each week, the Trump administration commits an atocity or makes a fateful policy decision,. And now, on April 14, it has come to this - willful contempt of both a Federal District judge and the Supreme Court.

This nation can make anyone a slave by kidnapping them and forcibly fly them to either Panama or El Salvador. We are paying those two nations to take in slaves that they own and can do what they with to them.

I have written for years that this nation under Donald Trump is not sustainable. It is breaking apart. I don’t know if this republic can withstand another 80 days of this, given what the last 80 have brought. It’s collapsing so quickly, it’s fairly violent.

The damage already done has been catastrophic and will span decades. There aren’t enough days in our lifetimes to put this nation back together. It would be better to have a revolution or civil war to blow up what’s left so some of us can start over.

I think war is coming. Not midterms. War.

The United States, for me, officially becomes a failed state today. To get here we had to pass a few milestones. Reagan tax cuts. The Contract With America. Invading Afghanistan and Iraq. Citizen’s United. Trump’s first term. Trump’s vast crimes. Trump’s failed coup attempt. And then finally the great paradox of Joe Biden’s ability to defeat Trump, but not prevent Trump’s return.

So we’re doing this. And it is happening quickly. We’re going to destroy what’s left of the republic as quickly as possible. We’re going to invade allies. We’re going to give what’s left of our nation to the billionaires. We’re going to burn all the fossil fuels we can. And we’re going to make sure people alive today witness the end of the United States in their lifetimes.

Biden, on his way out, preemptively pardoned people who didn’t commit any Federal crimes. That was foolish. All it does is invite Republicans to invent crimes against them after today’s date. I don’t think it’s even constitutional to pardon someone who hasn’t been convicted yet. Many legal scholars say it is, but I have to agree with Marcy Wheeler that it’s a bit idiotic and and bad idea overall.

Biden also let Leonard Peltier go home, at the end of his life. That’s better than nothing.

In his two, unscripted speeches, Trump continued his dark, violent tone that he adopted in 2022. His presidency is going to work very fast and dirty. Big crises are going to come and go at lightning speed. Our news media has never been equipped to handle it objectively. And millions of Americans are going to suffer greatly.

I’m a mess, mentally. A lot of us are. We just got a month’s worth of news in half a day. The bottom line is that must resist Trump and all Republicans. They are an evil cult. I don’t use the word evil lightly. I never user the word cult lightly. They are evil. They want to destroy us. We must not let them. We can split up the US if we must. We can war against them figuratively and physically. But we can never allow them to win.

Hate them. It’s more than okay to do so. Then hate them more. Sue them. Make them toxic. Drown them, in their toxicity. Slow their March and push them away, out of the Northeast and West Coast.

And yeah, secede. Eastern Canada, New England and Greenland ought to become the Republic of Atlantica.
